Hallo,
hier mal nach langer Zeit wieder etwas neues von mir. Derzeit sind Aufnahmen in Arbeit, mal sehen was dabei herauskommt... :-)
Bin für Kritik und Meinungen dankbar!
Liebe Grüße,

Criminals and Baseball Stars
When the door swung open, I watched a whole new world unroll
Pinstriped wirepullers right next to workers on the dole
Thugs from Lower East Side, unearthing half the truth
They were all Dorothy Parker and they were all Babe Ruth.
I saw moronic porters handing wisdoms for eternity
And barmen declaim punts as if it was philosophy
I saw sane professors note down every spoken word
And dons granting policemen the right to be heard
With criminals and baseball stars
In speakeasies and cocktail bars
We listened to the New York City beat
Where waitors served on rollerblades
In scraps of sound and smoke cascades
Where the long arm of the law could not reach
There was music and excitement in every breath of air
There was all we ever wanted and nobody seemed to care
For anything prohibited or for the world outside
The bar was always our best possible den to hide.
And after each rough going day of labour in the mill
After all the drudgery and after all the drill
I’d spend my nights all dressed up on the other side of town
Where girls in pretty pettycoats turned me upside down
With criminals and baseball stars...
It was there I saw the duke on this little balcony
On his avenue to fame, for us all to see
It was there that I saw life the way it truly is
I was tought in gratitude and in happiness
We were everything we wanted, we were celebs of our own
Some got hit hard by reality as soon as they went home
Some of us climbed the ladder, some may have ended up in jail
And I guess I stayed the same, but that’s no cause to wail.
With criminals and baseball stars...
I went there to get Dutch courage, I went there to lament
I went there after weddings and I went there to resent
I went there to ask for trouble I went there to get laid
I went there to meet friends and sometimes to find some aid
With criminals and baseball stars...
